Let’s Learn Moor 2026

Let’s Learn Moor 2026 – Inspiring the Next Generation in the Uplands

This year, we are proud to once again host two Let’s Learn Moor events on the North Pennine moors, delivered in partnership with Countryside Learning and BASC. Across four days, we are looking forward to welcoming over 700 school children on to our managed moors for what promises to be an engaging and memorable outdoor learning experience.

These events are all about education, engagement, and giving children the opportunity to see first-hand what makes our moorlands so special. Through a wide range of interactive sessions, children will learn about the landscapes, wildlife, and the people who work tirelessly to manage and protect these unique environments.

We are delighted to be joined by an exceptional group of organisations and individuals, each showcasing their vital role within the uplands. Attendees this year include local fire and rescue services, the Great North Air Ambulance, upland farmers such as Bowlees Educational Farm, local dog handlers and trainers, UTASS, the North Pennines National Landscape team, Northumbrian Honey Bees, and many more. Together, alongside the moorland gamekeepers, they will provide a fascinating insight into the skills, knowledge, and dedication required to support life in these landscapes.

As part of the experience, children will also have the opportunity to try game meat, helping to build an understanding of sustainable food sources and the connection between land management and what we eat.

This is not just a local effort it forms part of a wider initiative across the uplands. Our sister moorland groups in the North York Moors, Peak District, Bowland, Nidderdale, Yorkshire Dales, and Calderdale will also be hosting schools during the same period, making it a fantastic 2 weeks of outdoor education across the country.

We are incredibly proud to play a part in delivering such a valuable experience. Events like Let’s Learn Moor are vital in helping young people connect with the countryside, understand its importance, and appreciate the work that goes into maintaining these landscapes for future generations.

We can’t wait to welcome the children to the moors for what will undoubtedly be an inspiring and enjoyable week outdoors.
